Designing a deep, well crafted arcade game-building tool for kids.
The main goal of this app was to encourage kids to build their own retro-style arcade games, save them, and share them with friends. With a collection of around 50 parts, 13+ characters, 6 themes, and many game-play editing tools, we had a list of complicated UI/UX design issues to solve. Where do all the game components live? How do we create a simple but robust game building experience? How do users test their games? What parts of the game can and can't be tweaked by the user?
